Weekend Update

One of my new goals is to blog more, so here we go! I randomly found a super cute new blog to follow, Sami's Shenanigans. I was thrilled to see that she has a link party, so I thought I'd partake.

I really lucked out this semester thanks to my awesome boss and the registration gods. I don't have work or class on Friday's, so I get to sleep in and do nothing alllllll day long. I couldn't be happier. Graham and I went to lunch at Mandola's and walked around the Triangle Friday afternoon, then Friday night we decided to turn 80 and have a super relaxing night. We got Chinese, watched Happy Endings, and called it a night early. Sometimes you just gotta rest and recuperate after a long week!

His parents came into town Saturday, so we got breakfast and headed to the Erwin Center to watch UT play Kansas. I don't consider myself sporty by any means, but I freakin' love basketball. It's super weird. I could care less about football, but there's something so fun about a live basketball game. Unfortunately, the Longhorns have played like shit this season and we got our butts kicked. Still a good time though!

Saturday night, we went to a wine pairing at Hudson's On The Bend. Oh my goshhhh.. incredible food! I already want to go back :) After dinner, we headed to a friends house for a game of giant Jenga. Our friends built it out of 2x4's and wrote dares or challenges on each block. It's hilarious.

Then Sunday, my best friend Kelsey randomly came into town. She has a weird obsession with Zac Efron, and as soon as she heard he'd be in town filming the new JFK movie, Parkland, she had to get here ASAP to stalk him. So we spent a large portion of the day trying to find him. Turns out he's in NYC this week filming another movie... cool. I'm glad we found that out after hours of searching.

All in all, a fun weekend! Hope yall's was as good as mine! XO

Before I get into all the deets of my juicy Instagram posts, I have to share some incredible news with yall! On Wednesday, January 16th, my perfect niece Lanzlee Taylor entered the world. She is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen in my life and I absolutely cannot wait to love on her and spoil her to death! These next couple of weeks are going to go by soooo slow in anticipation of my trip to come meet her. Our family could not be happier!

School and work are back in full swing. While I enjoyed relaxing over Christmas break, I thrive off of being busy, so I'm excited to be back.

This is gonna be a long Instafriday post.. I haven't done one in forevs.

Christmas at my Nannie's was nuts! There were over 20 of us there that afternoon. This picture totally reminds me of the scene at the end of Home Alone 2 when Mr. Duncan delivers all of those presents to the Plaza Hotel.

My cousin Bryce, my cousin Kayla, and her hubby Trey.

I was incredibly displeased with the new Happy Meal fries at McDonalds. There were literally 8 fries in the whole thing.

In high school, I worked at a kid's birthday place called Monkey Bizness. My coworkers became incredible friends, so we try to have "reunion dinners" when everyone is in town. This dinner did not disappoint :) I love these people. They made my first job experience so much fun.

Everyone knows my love for biscuits and gravy. Being home for the holidays did my belly good!

Unfortunately, a blurry New Years smooch.

My super cute best friends. And Adam being a creeper, per usual.

My super hott boyfriend and I on NYE. I loveddddd that dress.

My 8th grade class picture. I oughta be ashamed, but oh well. I was rockin' the ombre roots* before they were cool. Just call me a trendsetter.
*What actually happened was I let my brothers girlfriend give me highlights behind my mom's back (I wasn't allowed to do anything to my hair). My mom clearly noticed and made me grow it out. Lovely.

Courtney and I went to Top Golf one night. Oh man.. so much fun! It's such a cool establishment. I'm thrilled that they're building one in Austin!

Conversations with my boyfriend crack me up.

Going to the grocery store the Sunday before school starts back was the worst idea I've ever had. HEB was pure chaos. I hated it. I waited in line for honest to God, 30 minutes.

Graham and his dog are two peas in a pod.

Last but not least, my Valentines Day chalkboard. Loveeee it. I also really love that garland--dollar section at Target!

Anywho, that's all I've been up to! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend. I'll be cuddling up with my man, swooning over pictures of my new baby niece, and trying to stay warm!

2012: A Year In Review

Sorry for just getting around to writing this post, but wow.. what a year. This past year has been so good to me. It wasn't easy.. in fact, there have been days I just needed to sit down and cry. 2012 was a year of growing, a year of fun, a year of responsibility, and a year of pushing my limits. I can say with 100% conviction that though every day wasn't perfect, I was able to find an ounce of happiness in each day; that was my ultimate goal for 2012.

Let's take a look at my 2012:

I rang in the New Year with a bang. School started back up. I started my first internship at How Do You Roll? I ended my nannying job for a family I loved--doing this was hard, but I knew it was for the best.

Found my routine with work and school. Celebrating Kaitlynn's birthday, which coincidentally was the funniest night of my life. Slaved over school. Beared the freezing cold. Spent lots of time with friends.

Spent a lot of time outdoors hiking and laying out. Went back to nannying a little bit. Decided to stay in town for Spring Break and work SXSW for How Do You Roll?. Dogsat (never again). Hung out with some great friends. Learned to not push myself health-wise. Went to College Station to visit my best friends--it had been too long. Anddddd my stepbrother came into town from New Mexico.

Really found my niche at my internship. Got to take on several of my own solo projects--loved that. Went home for Easter. Celebrated Taylor's 21st with old friends. Saw Casey Donahew at Nutty Brown. Wrapped up my Spanish class.

Had my last day at How Do You Roll?.. so bittersweet. Went to Tennessee for Kayla's wedding. Celebrated Mother's Day with my grandma's. Threw Kayla a bachelorette party. Kayla got married--so sweet! Got to sit front row at the X Factor Austin auditions and met Britney, Demi, Simon, and LA Reid. Had a brief, but awful internship experience--that turned out to be what I needed for the summer though. Laid out a lot. Started summer school.

Enjoyed the heat and having nothing to do. Spent some time in Houston. Started this blog. Read a lot of books. Watched a lot of TV on Netflix. Went and visited Kelsey in Dallas... I missed her a lot.

Started second summer school class. Started dating someone new (spoiler: turned out to be a huge loser). Went to Messina Hof winery with Mandy. Had a really bad health scare. Did a lot of Austin-y things like swimming at Barton Springs, checking out the Cathedral of Junk, and trailer park food eating. My cousin Kacy came into town and stayed for a week; it was cool showing her around Austin.

Slaved over the last leg of summer school. Spent a lot of time by the water. Trusted my gut a lot more than normal. Went to Blues on the Green a lot. Started school. Started two internships. Got a new roommate.

Stressed a lot. Quit one of the internships. Got a lotttttt happier with the direction my life was moving. Really began enjoying my classes. Got to work FowlerFest (so much fun!). Kicked off football season. Went to Jacob's Well with great friends. Met Graham :)

Loved my classes. Loved my internship. Loved everything happening. Celebrated Halloween with my best friends. Went to ACL. Parents finally bought land in Tennessee.

Still loved school and work. The holiday season was in full swing. My family came into town for Thanksgiving. Went to Austin for the UT/TCU game Thanksgiving Day. Graham and I got more serious. Went to Wurstfest with some old friends. Went to Ren Fest with my best friends.

Celebrated my birthday. My parents came into town. Worked an Eli Young Band Concert. Semester ended. Work ended for the semester. Went to Tennessee for Christmas. Celebrated New Years in Austin. And in between all that, lots of fun holiday events with my friends and boyfriend.

What an eventful year! And I know for a fact that I didn't cover everything. I am so excited to see what 2013 has in store for me. So far, it's been incredible!
